Jimmy Atto http://www.jimmyatto.com I'm like the Happy Gilmore of singing and guitar playing. I'm the happy gilmore of many things. nowadays, after being tethered to MI (figuratively, although literally might have been a better story), i have made an executive decision to get back on the road again with touring. About a year and a half ago I bought a honda element for this sole reason. although the vehicle has many perks with its versatility, i would like to take full advantage of this versatility while on the road and pursuing what ultimately makes me happy... performing. Thanks to some great young, ambitious college kids, the tour is already coming together. the first show is the hardest one to get, and once a young man named andrew from NC confirmed it with me, i knew the tour was actually going to happen. a few more have been nailed down and so far, they're all for schools i have NOT played before = really exciting. i'd like to keep the table open for anyone at the schools i'll be visiting to request some songs and covers and i'll see what I can do about playing a couple in each set that they might want to hear. yes, that was a run-on sentence... i sure picked a fine time to get back out on the road. I swear gas was like $2 last time i hit the road for a long tour. so seeing as how it may be as high as $5 by the time i leave town, i just will be hoping at this point to be able to straight up make it home. - (Read more)
Kicker http://www.kickerpop.co.uk Kicker are an indie pop band from South London and are Jill Drew, Phil Sutton and a number of chums. We've recorded five singles (all on the CD 'fivefortyfives') and an album, 'Our Wild Mercury Years' for the Track and Field Organisation record lable. The latter came out this summer. Our sound has been described as Stereolab meets Northern Soul, but I prefer to think of us as a good old fashioned girl/boy beat pop group. We've played with Comet Gain, Tompaulin, The Tyde, The Trash Can Sinatras, The Clientele...lots. I can't remember them all. We feature/have featured folks who have been/are in various other groups (18th Day of May, The Projects, Comet Gain, Hood, Harper Lee, Velocette spring to mind) which might be reflected in our tunes. Or not. - (Read more)
Lou Spyrou http://www.louspyrou.com/ With extensive music experience since the age of 12, Lou soon became addicted to music. Singing front vocals and guitar with various bands took him all over the UK on the university circuits and had him play several seasons in Jersey. He has been composing songs since 1976 when he became a road manager for Clayson and the Argonauts and toured the UK. When the Nozes broke up he concentrated on a solo career where he played all across the UK and which eventually led him to Cyprus. He soon became a focal point in Paphos and arranged concerts for local charities. He teamed up with a guitarist called Alex Pascali and soon started playing in the clubs and bars as well as entertaining the United Nations troops who were based in Cyprus. He then decided to go back to the continent and he has now settled in Belgium. Lou has concentrated on cover gigs where his main influences are Country, Rock and Blues. Lou interprets with a mixture of strength and sensitivity a repertory of well known songs as well as his own creations. Some of his demos are created on an 16 track home studio with limited resources. He is currently gigging around Belgium and the Netherlands and has recently joined a blues-rock band. He has a catalogue of over 80 songs that are ready for publishing and is now focusing his sights on obtaining a record deal. - (Read more)
Mountain Mirrors http://www.mountainmirrors.com Mountain Mirrors started in the woods of Massachusetts with a Radio Shack keyboard, a four-track and a drum machine. Jeff Sanders, the man behind Mountain Mirror’s eclectic mix of psychedelic-laced folk, has been entranced by music as long as he can remember. A fan of all types of music, Jeff listened to metal artists like Anthrax and Metallica in his early teenage years but discovered esteemed songwriters like Nick Drake and Damien Rice as he grew older. It was this mix of influences that made Jeff realize that a musician need not be tied to one genre or another but rather to create music that they feel inspired by and in turn hopefully inspire others. With his sophomore release, the self-titled Mountain Mirrors, Jeff explains that his influences go far beyond music, “I'm influenced by subjects I'm interested in just as much as this constant barrage of music. I love shows like "Unsolved Mysteries" and "Ghost Hunters,” "The Shield" and "The Sopranos". Quentin Tarantino movies. Anything disturbing.” And so with song titles such as “Stay Evil”, “Your Time Has Come” and “Karmic Dogs” you might be surprised to find that the songs aren’t necessarily as menacing as they might seem. Stonerrockchick.com, in a review of Jeff’s first album (Lunar Ecstasy), described Mountain Mirrors as “fit for poets, travelers and seekers” and it’s an apt description. Take, for instance the song “Stay Evil”; the song as Jeff describes it was written “about following a spiritual path and finding some enlightenment.” A perfect blend of insightful spirituality and eclectic arrangements make Mountain Mirrors a subtle and powerful listen. - (Read more)
