Based in Sydney, Australia, Empty began in 2005 and define themselves as an Electronic-Industrial outfit, which has evolved into a style that draws upon the diverse sounds of Dark-Electro and a unique, melodic collaboration of Pop and Industrial. The initial MP3 release of the demo selection entitled "Abandon All Hope" began circulating on the net and into the hands of DJs across the globe. This later led to the independent release of the debut EP "Open Aeon" on the Aphotic Audio label in 2006. In 2007 the initial two piece band was expanded to include a live drummer and bassist. This led to a series of live shows locally around Sydney and regular international radio airplay. We have been writing music since 1997 and to date have written five albums, the style of music ranges from ambient through to dance, a lot of inspiration for the music comes from those around and things that happen from day to day. In 1997 we started writing music mainly for ourselves and for friends that wanted something a little different and personal for them, as time went by many people said "hey, why don't you publish your music it's cool", which at first we laughed off. But later on we decided to release bits on the Internet. KIN is where music, art, performance, and film collide. Our goal is to create an experience that literally envelops the senses. Artists often bandy about the term, but this show is the definition of multi-media, synergizing music, film and circus: Live music accompanies multiple projected images with synchronized lighting. And performers are suspended from fabric while images are projected on their bodies as they perform acrobatic feats overhead. Each song explores a different theme or emotion, some political, some sensual, some frightening, some hallucinatory. It has been described as a cross between Pink Floyd, Orbital, Cirque Du Soleil and Stan Brakhage.
