| Jonathan Bentley http://jb.mayapplerecords.com/ Jonathan Bentley, up until now, has been the Midwest’s best-kept secret. Estuary marks the official debut of this extraordinary songwriter. And what a debut. It is audacious and unconventional in every respect. The location – the living room of his farmhouse in the countryside east of Springfield, Missouri; the recording method – everyone positioned around two microphones, no overdubs; the instrumentation – steel string guitar, nylon string guitar, two violins, a clarinet, a banjo, and percussion; and the songs themselves combine to create something entirely unique. Imagine a new amalgam - gypsy hillbilly music. For two days in June 2003 MayApple was there with our microphones to capture it. Lyrics are simultaneously abstract and resonating, melodies are tuneful yet distant, and the septet is beautiful and twisted. These songs speak the heart and mind of a true artist, unfettered and uncensored. Come forward, brave souls, and buy this CD. Featuring the talents of cousin Bill Thomas, Molly Healey, Randy Bearden, Kenny Wirt, Ryan Flores, and Danielle Meinhardt. Produced by poet Roger Wissbaum. | Mark Christopher http://garageband.com/artist/markchristopher I'm Mark Christopher Frimmel. Born Fort Worth, Texas, 1957. I write a couple songs a month, and I'm waiting for one of my songs to make it, hopefully. I want to write music that makes a difference. My father always said "If you could just write one song along the lines of "White Christmas", a true legendary Christmas song, you could make it in the music industry." So last December, I gave it a try. My song "It's All About The Love (It's Christmas), is probably one of my best works, along with my new song "How You Feelin' Now", a song about personal struggles and the War in Iraq. My main focus in my music are vibrant 3-part harmonies and versatile style of composition. I do wish everybody well and I hope you like my music. - (Read more) |

| Red Rooster http://www.redroostermusic.com Red Rooster is led by Jay Erickson (Guitar and Vocals) and Nat Zilkha (Lead Guitar). Friends since kindergarten, Jay & Nat attended college together where they played in several bands before moving to New York together in 1998 to pursue careers in music. Originally established as an acoustic act, playing a mix of original and traditional bluegrass, blues and folk, Red Rooster has evolved into highly original and eclectic band with a sound all its own. Though its roots remain firmly planted in Americana, Red Rooster has created a highly original and urban-infused sound. Today, Red Rooster shows vary from just Jay & Nat with a couple of acoustic guitars, to an urban country orchestra complete with electric guitars, drums, horns, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, a DJ and a choir. - (Read more) |
