ELDRITCH http://www.eldritchweb.com/ Looking at the musical development of ELDRITCH, you will find out how hard and concentrated the band – established in 1991 – has worked over all these years to get to their current level. Influenced by bands as FATES WARNING, ANNIHILATOR, QUEENSRYCHE and CORONER, the ex-Zeus musicians Eugene Simone (guitar), Adriano Dal Canto (drums) and Terence Holler (vocals) form ELDRITCH. With the completing of the line-up and the release of two high quality demo tapes, interest in the band grows – already in 1993, the band finds a competent manager and music publisher in Limb Schnoor. 1995, the combo releases its debut album "Seeds Of Rage" at INSIDE OUT MUSIC, which is showered with brilliant reviews and voted album of the month in the renowned German Metal Magazine "Heavy, oder was!?". 1998, ELDRITCH release "El Nino", their third album, and at the same time, they strike a musically rougher path. Bands as METALLICA, CORONER or ANNIHILATOR have influenced this album noticeably. The media and the fans acknowledge the broadening of the musical horizon, which results in rising sales and extremely positive reviews. The band is successfully on tour with THRESHOLD + PAIN OF SALVATION and ELDRITCH are celebrated by many fans as trendsetter in the international Prog Metal scene. In the meantime, the line-up has changed, leading to a positive musical input in the band structure. - (Read more)
Tormented http://www.tormentedtheband.com/ In late 2003, I was jamming with 2 guys at this big shed that I had rented out in the industrial/commercial parts of the suburb of Westcourt in Cairns. A few weeks into the lease though the 2 of them had informed me they no longer wished to jam. I was in a really tough spot because I had organised 2 other bands to join us in renting out this shed (at $440 per month) and now I was without a band. My younger brother Michael had been speaking with Tom Campbell (now Tormented's ex lead guitarist) who had expressed an interest in starting up a thrash metal band with Michael and another mate from school who played Drums.....Ned Gulliford. I was of course extremely keen at the time to start up a thrash metal band, so I asked Michael if he would mind if i called Tom. The next day I talked with Tom and explained to him the dilema I was in and that I needed to find a band right away. Tom was immediately keen and we organised a jam at the shed so that I could meet Ned and we could all have a jam. I explained to them at the time that I had already written some original material which I wanted the band to perform, and in return I was willinging to perform any additional material they wished to do. After a few jams we invited a friend of ours by the name of Ashley Martin, to join the band and forfill the role of bass guitarist. Unfortunately after a few jams Ashley told us that he was not keen to join the band........its still unclear to us as to whether or not refer to Ashley as an ex band member. We don't even know if he ever actually "joined" the band. Not to long after, we invited Gene Waltham, another friend of ours to join the band and play bass guitar. And thats how the line-up was formed. We began rehearsing 2-3 times per week, playing the 5 original songs I had put together as well as a range of cover songs including Die by the Sword (Slayer), Paranoid (Black Sabbath), Dirty Deeds (AC/DC) as well as some Judas Priest and Anthrax. - (Read more)
jagpanzer http://www.jagpanzer.com The band was formed in the early 80's by high school students Harry Conklin, John Tetley, Mark Briody and Rick Hilyard. Known by the name 'Tyrant', the young musicians became popular on the local club circuit by playing original songs along with metal classics by Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and Rainbow. Tapes of the band's original music were often requested, so the guys decided it was time to enter a recording studio. Late one evening in May 1981, the band booked 3 hours at a small 4-track studio and emerged with their first demo - a cassette featuring one song entitled 'Tower of Darkness'. Studio recording proved to be very enjoyable for the musicians, so they booked time 5 months later at a larger 8-track studio. This studio session would yield two songs which would become Jag Panzer classics - 'Battle Zones' and 'The Crucifix'. This new two song demo caught the eye of fanzine editor Andrew Banks. Although the fanzine, Heavy Metal Times, was published out of Texas, Andrew Banks happened to be living in Colorado Springs at the time. The band met with Andrew, struck up a friendship, and gave him an armful of demo tapes to take with him on a trip to Los Angeles (home of several newly formed U.S. indie metal record labels). Andrew returned from Los Angeles with good news - 2 record labels, Azra Records and Metal Blade Records were both impressed with the demo tapes. However, there was also a bit of bad news, it turned out that a long established California band was also called Tyrant. A name change was in order. The young musicians mulled over contract offers from both labels while at the same time searching for a new band name. A book was found at the local library which showed a large aggressive looking tank called a Jagdpanzer. They liked the name but felt that it may be difficult to pronounce for people in America. The 'd' was dropped in the name and the band officially became 'Jag Panzer'. - (Read more)
