| rolen http://rolen.com/home.html Some call us Heavy. Some call us Progressive (prog). Others say we hearken back to the days of Big Hair Metal while others throw us in with bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Dio and Judus Priest just to name a few. We have even had a couple of songs fall into the gothic vein of metal. The truth is, we are all of the above and more. How ever you wish to describe our style of metal is ok with us. However, there is one mighty word that is ALWAYS attached to that description: METAL! So, to hell with titles and descriptions! Just turn your speakers up loud and check out the tunes page. - (Read more) |
| Sir Hedgehog http://www.gameaction.com/hedgehog/ Sir Hedgehog rode in sometime in the autumn of 1995 with the original line up of Jonas Fairley (vocals), Paul Slater (guitar), Simon Oliver (bass), and Steve Oliver (drums). As individuals, all four had met when playing shows together with their then respective bands, but finally a mutual appreciation of the majesty of 70's hard rock and metal (like all the best things in life...) brought them together under the distinctive moniker of Sir Hedgehog. Their debut release, a 3 song cassette demo, "The Legend of Sir Hedgehog", was unleashed in 1997 to immediate acclaim, including rave reviews from Terrorizer, Kerrang, and Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles among many others. The response from the underground rock and metal scene was so strong that in 1998 it was decided to release a limited edition CD containing the "Legend.." demo plus two other sessions, so all who had missed the initial cassette release would finally have their chance to “taste the hog”. It sold out immediately and the band began to work on new material. By mid-1999, Simon Oliver had left the band, and was quickly replaced by Brendy Marklinger, an old bandmate of Jonas'. However, even with the quick changeover, it was still some time before the band began to record again...but when they did the results were astounding! In early 2001, sharpened by 6 years of steady gigs and rehearsals and with the extra push of a new bass player, Sir Hedgehog finally delivered their self-titled, full-length debut. The disc contained the band's strongest material to date and justifiably received fantastic reviews right across the board, leading to some spectacular support slots for Clutch, Biohazard, and The Cutthroats 9, among many others. - (Read more) |
| Stormlord http://www.stormlord.net/new/index.html Cristiano Borchi (Bass, Vocals), Claudio Di Carlo (Guitar), Riccardo Montanari (Drums) Stormlord project starts in September 1991 from an idea of Cristiano Borchi after a meeting with Claudio Di Carlo. | symbolicband http://www.symbolicband.com/ Band formed in Tuzla (BiH) in summer of 1999 when old line up split up. Remaining members Mirza (Smajlovic) on guitar and Piper (Eldar Ibrahimovic) on drums asked Dejo (Slavuljica) to join on vocals. This was the fourth line up of Symbolic. Band began with composing and concerts when they were joined by another Mirza (Osmanovic) on bass guitar just few weeks after. Band played a mixture of older classic rock music and a neo-classical progressive music. In just few months time band had five songs and a demo recording. All songs were written by all band members together. Demo was recorded in home studio in Pipers' flat, where most of the rehearsing also took place. The band was forced to make a break after that demo material as Piper had to go and pursue his studies in the UK. Since then band continued to work on a summer to summer basis when Piper used to come back for summer holidays. In September of 2000 band had its' first live appearance which took place in Palma discotheque. Headlining bend, which is coming also from Tuzla, was Deja-Vu. - (Read more) |
| symphonyx http://www.symphonyx.com After the release of Michael Romeo's demo tape, The Dark Chapter, Symphony X was formed in April 1994. Besides Romeo, the original lineup included keyboardist Michael Pinnella and drummer Jason Rullo. The same year saw the band recording their self-titled debut. This was followed eight short months later by their tremendously received second album, The Damnation Game, which featured the new singer, Russell Allen, for the first time. They made a huge leap up the ladder in Autumn 1996 with the release of The Divine Wings Of Tragedy, which was especially well received in Europe, and which received high placing in the Readers' Polls of Europe's most important music magazines. Accolades such as 'the best Progressive Power Metal band in the world' and 'the best Progressive Metal album of the year' were heaped onto Symphony X. March 1998 saw the release of their fourth studio album Twilight In Olympus, and the band's first, eagerly awaited concerts. Their fifth studio album, V - The New Mythology Suite, took Symphony X on a European tour in Autumn 2000. During the tour, they recorded their live double album, Live On The Edge Of Forever, in the legendary Paris venue Elysee Montmartre. The live album was released in October 2001, which documented the huge technical capabilities of the five band members. With their sixth studio work and latest release, The Odyssey, Symphony X united recognized progressive elements and their clean, sharp melodic vocals with a somewhat harder, rawer production. "The lyrics of 'King Of Terrors' are based on a novel by Edgar Allen Poe", says Romeo. "We had the feeling that this dark, heavy song needed dark spooky lyrics. - (Read more) |
