Rancid http://www.rancidrancid.com/ In late 2007 we all spent a few weeks together writing in Utah at Unknown Studios. The chemistry has been incredible and this record has come together very organically. All of the songs were written with us all 4 together in the same room. We hung out at Brandens house and when it wasn't snowing we would play soccer, skate the ramp, and work on our UK Photobook. Sometimes we'd just sit back and watch a Johnny Cash or Social Distortion dvd. We enjoyed having an environment where we could just relax and write with no pressure or distractions. Some days the snow would come down so much that it created a real feeling of solitude, bringing us together. Each night when we'd go out to eat at the local restaurants it was interesting to have us all together out in such a conservative community. It was like Rancid dining with the Osmonds, that was pretty much how it felt. In early Jan 2008 we started recording the 7th Rancid record with producer Brett Gurewitz (who has produced 4 previous Rancid records). It's coming along great and we're deep into it at this point still currently tracking. With an expected release in June 2008, we are working hard and very proud of what we've done so far. We will post more info, videos and photos from our writing and recording sessions soon! - (Read more)
Supersuckers http://www.supersuckers.com/ You’ve heard our name, you’ve seen our records, our t-shirts and our stickers. We’re probably the favorite band of someone you know and yet we’re still a mystery to you. Well my friend, that’s okay, I’m here to fill you in and help you to get to know the greatest rock-n-roll band in the world, The Supersuckers. Our story is almost impossible to believe. This band is literally a human cartoon. We all grew up among the dead-ends and cactus needles of Tucson, Arizona and have known each other since grade school. We graduated from the same high school together at the same time (a school immortalized in our song “Santa Rita High”) and we chose to play in a band together because we liked to hang out together, not because we were great musicians or anything. I truly believe that a band is defined by their limitations, that what they can’t (or won’t) do is just as important as what they can do. I guess that, in this era of pre-fabricated, put-together-to-have-a-hit bands, we’re kind of an aberration and I gotta tell ya that that makes us smile a little every day. We formed the band in 1988 and we were initially a five piece called The Black Supersuckers (a name found in some quality “adult literature” we had laying around in our impeccably clean band house), with me on bass, Dan “Thunder” Bolton and Rontrose Heathman on guitars, Dancing Eagle on drums and a lead singer by the name of Eric Martin. After firmly proving ourselves to be the best band in town we decided it was time to get out of Tucson and try our luck somewhere else. So we tossed a coin with heads as New Orleans and tails as Seattle. Tails it was and in May of ‘89 we packed up and went north. We had no idea that Seattle was about to become “Rock Mecca USA” we just wanted to go somewhere where we could wear our leather jackets a little more often. - (Read more)
The Esoteric http://www.the-esoteric.com Few dare to test the boundaries, to step outside the accepted and cut their own path in a crowded scene, like Lawrence, KS-based heavy music innovators THE ESOTERIC. THE ESOTERIC are a shining example of the determination, hard work ethic and do-it-yourself values so characteristic of the band’s Midwestern roots...using those traits to turn tragedy into opportunity and setbacks into starting blocks. In February of 2005, the band's home burned to the ground, leaving THE ESOTERIC with nothing on the very morning the master CD for the band’s With the Sureness of Sleepwalking album arrived in the mail. Fitting almost, as the band embarked on what would be a non-stop whirlwind touring schedule in support of Sleepwalking just a week later with friends Nodes of Ranvier, followed by tours with The Acacia Strain, Since The Flood, LoveHateHero and Secret Lives of the Freemasons.April 2005 then saw the release of Sleepwalking and the acclaimed "Ram-Faced Boy" music video. Directed by Matt Bass (Linkin Park, Rasputina) for Factory Features, the video garnered immediate attention at both MTV2 and Fuse and set the stage for an appearance at the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival, a summer tour with Himsa and a leg on the esteemed Vans Warped Tour. The band continued to stay on the road through the fall and into winter, racking up nearly 300 shows that year with such diverse acts as Every Time I Die, High On Fire, The Red Chord, Boysetsfire, From Autumn To Ashes, Bear Vs Shark and Biology before taking a short break to shoot their second video for “Your New Burden.” The band began 2006 with a massive 50-date co-headlining tour across America with Scarlet, Calico System and Fight Paris before settling into the studio that spring with Producer/Engineer Paul Malinowski (Shiner, Open Hand, Roman Numerals) to begin work on Subverter, the band’s newest foray into the untapped mediums of music. - (Read more)
