| Enchant http://www.theoasis.cc/ For almost one and a half decades, San Francisco based Enchant are celebrating their typical American mix of neo prog, classic and melodic rock. With seven albums the band around guitarist and main songwriter Doug Ott has gained themselves a continually growing fan community, on this side of the Atlantic as well as in their native country. High time to finally release a live album. The place in their home town Oakland was well choosen: fans arrived from all over the world to give them a glittering reception when recording machines and cameras were turned on inside the iMusicast venue. The house is ready for Enchant live in concert! For almost two and a half hours the band presents a cross-section of their complete œuvre live on stage – with material from the debut work “A Blueprint of the World“ up to their so far last studio album “Tug of War“, including a few previously unreleased acoustic versions of popular songs. Singer Ted Leonard – whom many compare to Steve Walsh of Kansas thanks to his pitch level and variability – is convincing everybody; Doug Ott lets his guitar sing and reminds of Saga’s Ian Crichton and Marillion’s Steve Rothery, and in complex passages also of Rush’s Alex Lifeson; and Bill Jenkins on keyboards, bassist Ed Platt and drummer Sean Flanegan provide some dense mood and a proper groove. | ETHIC http://www.ethic.com In 1999 Ethic recorded their debut CD “Ghost Stories of the 20th Century”. Ethic hit the road throughout New England opening up, showcasing, or headlining. Everywhere they could get one foot in the door, their instruments followed. In 2002 they released their second CD "Can Anybody Hear Me", which is still charting on an Australian site to this day. The founding fathers, Steve Pompei and Rick Scarola have played music together since they were kids. Though the line up has changed a few times in the last 7 years, they finally chose Aaron Travers, a bombastic drummer from South Town, whose energy is unlimited and is a meticulous timekeeper. Enter Richard "Rocky" Sundgren, an established guitarist and songwriter in his own right, who 3 years ago had his own band. Pompei's and Sundgren's musical lives have run parallel, each supporting the other. Finally 3 years ago, after dismissing their current guitar player due to musical differences, Pompei called in a favor. In 2 weeks time Ethic needed a guitar player to open up for Sebastian Bach at the Webster Theatre in Hartford, CT. Sundgren agreed to fill in. Ironically Rocky's band Sylt had just disbanded. The gig was so hot Ethic knew they had to have him. He agreed and we have been writing and playing non stop for the last 3 years. This is the final line up. The magic that these 4 souls create on stage and in the studio is stupifying. With Travers timekeeping, Scarola "the maestro's" technical jargon, Rocky's emotional riffs and Pompei's introspective lyrics and melody make this quartet an absolute phenomenon. Ethic is currently in the studio finishing up our third CD, a 13 track masterpiece of highs and lows and heartfelt music that will blow your fuckin' head off. - (Read more) |

| FONYA http://www.fonya.com/ Chris Fournier has been releasing music in various rock and electronic genres since 1991. Much of this music has been under the Fonya pseudonym, but more recently he has embarked on other projects under various incarnations. Chris grew up in Portland, Maine playing bass guitar in high school where he built up his musical skills playing in various rock bands. After graduation in 1981, he soon began making a living playing top 40 pop music as a bassist and keyboardist. This paid the bills for about five years after which Chris decided to start composing his own music. He bought a four-track cassette recorder in 1986 and began creating his own style of electronic rock. Within the next year Chris began the task of getting an engineering education, in part to help finance his growing need for a full studio. Over the following six years he earned a degree in electronics from the Southern Maine Technical College and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Maine at Orono. While in college, he continually upgraded his musical setup to the point where he controlled several keyboards, effects, drums, and a light show from his computer. His compositional skills grew considerably during this time as well. During his junior year at the University of Maine, he recorded his first Fonya CD, Wanderers of the Neverending Night, for the Kinesis (then Kinetic Discs) label. During Chris' senior year, he recorded his second work, Soul Travels, for Kinesis. After college graduation in 1993, Chris worked in many United States locations as an electrical engineer for various microprocessor development firms and continued to release new music with Kinesis, including In Flux, Earth Shaper, and Perfect Cosmological Principle. He continued with his sixth release, Upper Level Open Space, on the Musea label in France. - (Read more) |
| FOXTROT http://foxtrottheband.com FOXTROT THE BAND: Michael Palschakov- keyboards Mike started playing piano at the age of six. After a few years of classical study his interest widened to include the progressive music and keyboard dominated sound of bands like ELP, Genesis, Pink Floyd and Kansas. Both of these musical disciplines have remained lifelong pursuits. Greg Katona- electric & acoustic guitars As a guitarist, you have the opportunity to play electric, 12-string acoustic and classical guitar with all the varied characteristics that those instruments imply. And the diverse roles the guitar plays in the music means that it's always exciting to play. From composed and improvised solos to chordal backing to true polyphonic interplay with the other musicians, it's all there. Even in sections of the music when I'm not playing it's still exciting and fulfilling. Robert "Miles" Standish- 6 string fretted and fretless basses, midi pedals, 12 string guitar, b vox Musically trained in his youth and terminally mortified of the accordion lessons that started it all, Miles hasn't done much of anything using fingers on strings since college, where he met Greg. He's currently involved with his mid-life crisis and for the moment has decided against the more traditional red Corvette and is instead having a great time with Foxtrot. Unable to find an amplifier that goes to 11, he has opted for basses that have six strings - though he doesn't remember seeing them in the '70s. Then again, who remembers the '70's? Some things, like disco, are better left in the past. James Jeffries- drums, percussion, 12 string guitar, b vox Former member of Savoir Fare and Jade Monkey. James is a self taught drummer with more than 20 years experience. Brian Caufield - lead vocals - (Read more) |
